I was fortunate to see this play when it opened in NYC thirty-five years ago, and if memory is a criterion for quality, this is among the top 2% I/ve seen. Set in Franco's Spain, in a prison, Arabel provides us with a portrait of the horrors of political torture in a theatrical poetic form that is quite simply unforgetable. More relevant now than it was thirty-five years ago
